AI providers and costs

Use your own API key and understand which actions use inference.

Whose credits are used

Add your provider API key in Settings → AI providers. The server encrypts saved keys, resolves them for the current workspace owner, and sends supported requests to that provider. There is no shared owner-key fallback when a customer has no key.

Your provider bills the API key used for your workspace. Work done in the app owner’s workspace uses that owner’s saved key. A ChatGPT or Codex subscription does not automatically supply backend API credits.

Entryway subscription fees, Google advertising spend, and AI provider API charges are separate.

Choose and test capabilities

Choose compatible text, embedding, and image models separately. Save the key and use the in-app text test before generation. Provider permissions, balance, quotas, and structured-output support can still prevent an operation.

A successful text test does not prove that embeddings or images work. OpenAI and supported OpenRouter image paths are implemented; not every text provider/model supports image generation.

OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter keys are supported. AI settings lists lower-cost OpenAI candidates available to your connected provider, with dated advisory prices. Start with the least expensive candidate that passes your representative tasks. Entryway does not automatically switch providers or upgrade to a more expensive model. A connectivity test is not a model-quality evaluation.

What uses AI

Account analysis, ad/landing copy generation, supported image generation, and embedding-based keyword workflows can make provider calls. Bounded repair of an invalid generated result may make an additional call.

Reading reports, measurement scans, deterministic audits, validation, saved approvals, and Google mutations use application logic and provider APIs rather than LLM reasoning.

Usage shows recorded units when providers return them, not an invoice or a guaranteed total. Interrupted calls can incur provider charges without a completed app usage record. Check your provider dashboard for authoritative charges and set provider-side spend limits.

Data and control

Generated content must be reviewed for factual accuracy, brand fit, and advertising policy. Source quotes provide traceability rather than semantic proof. The model cannot approve its own advertising changes.

Use a provider account and data-handling settings appropriate for the business data you send. Revoke a key in the provider dashboard when it should no longer be valid; removing it from Entryway prevents future local use.
